Charis Wilson was married to the photographer Edward Weston from 1939 to 1946. Following Weston's receipt of a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship, they traveled throughout the United States collaborating on the book entitled California and the West, which was illustrated with Weston's photographs and Wilson's text.
